Sharp cuts,warm chairs

I’ve sat in Marco’s chair every three weeks for over ten years. He knows my fade better than I do, remembers my kids’ names and still asks how my mum’s knee is doing. I’ve moved house twice and never once thought about switching shops. Hollis Barbers is just where I get my hair cut.

My son used to cry the whole way through a haircut. Lou put a booster seat in, let him hold the clippers turned off, and took his time. Now he asks when we’re going back and insists on sitting next to me. Two cuts, one lollipop, zero tears.

Booked a hot towel shave with Dee the morning of my wedding. Hot towels, a straight razor and the calmest forty-five minutes of the whole day. Not a nick, not a red patch, and my wife still says it’s the best I’ve ever looked. The groomsmen all booked in after.

New to Portland, I tried three shops in my first month. Then I walked into Hollis Barbers, Sam handed me a coffee and actually listened to what I wanted. Sharpest cut I’ve had in years, and it’s the first place in this city where people know my name.
